Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time. Use "g.gisenv" within GRASS. This permanently predefines GRASS variables in the .grassrc6 file. Usage: g.gisenv set="VARIABLE=VALUE" It looks unusual with two equals signs, but g.gisenv serves dual duty for getting and setting GRASS variables. If the user just specifies a variable name, it defaults to "get" mode. For example: g.gisenv set=GISDBASE=newdbase g.gisenv set=LOCATION_NAME=newlocation g.gisenv set=MAPSET=newmapset.

GRASS GIS is an extremely powerful application for manipulating and modelling large raster datasets such as Landsat 8 tiff bands. As GRASS users we are aware the application does not implement 'on-the-fly-projections' to ease the pain when adding data in a different projection in the way QGIS does. The output from g.gisenv when invoked without arguments is directly usable by Bash. The following command will cast each variable into the UNIX environment: eval `g.gisenv` This works only for Bash. The format of the output is not compatible with other UNIX shells.
You may as well run “d.erase” when changing LOCATION, as the stored state is no longer usable.
